A Villa Far from Rome Book Launch Party with Author Sheila Finch
Sunday April 23rd @ 3pm
A homesick, 16 year-old Roman girl and her illegitimate child, exiled by the Emperor Nero to Britannia. A middle-aged Celtic king of an insignificant tribe, trying to find middle ground between Celtic tradition and Roman rule and making enemies on both sides. The shadow of martyred Queen Boudicca like a curse on the land. An old Legionary willing to give his life for a friend, and a former Greek slave with a secret past who rescues him. And an overbearing Roman architect trying to build a copy of one of the most glorious palaces in Rome in a backwater of the Empire - What could go wrong?
I was born in London, England and went to school there, but I have lived in the United States since 1957. In the U.S., I first lived in Bloomington, Indiana , where I did graduate work at Indiana University in medieval literature and linguistics. I now live in California.
I write science fiction, historical fiction, and I teach creative writing at conferences around the world.
When I'm not writing or teaching, I like to travel, do Tai Chi, hike in the local mountains, or go 4-wheeling in the desert.
I have three daughters, eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and two cats.
