Curt Last lives between Coastal Orange County and Chigasaki, Japan. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Pre-Law from the University of California, Santa Barbara (1994) and his Master of Fine Arts in Poetry from California State University, Long Beach (2006). He also served from 2008 to 2016 as a Hospital Corpsman in the United States Naval Reserves. Duties included various Navy clinics and hospitals including Bethesda Naval Hospital's Wounded Warrior Ward, a humanitarian mission to East Timor (2010), and a deployment to the Role 3 Combat Hospital in Kandahar, Afghanistan 2011).
Gerald Locklin has published over one hundred volumes of poetry, fiction, and literary essays including Charles Bukowski: A Sure Bet, (Water Row Press) and Go West, Young Toad, (Water Row Press). Charles Bukowski called him “One of the great undiscovered talents of our time.” The Oxford Companion to Twentieth Century Literature in the English Language calls him “a central figure in the vitality of Los Angeles writing.” His works have been widely translated and he has given countless readings here and in England. He is a Professor Emeritus at California State University, Long Beach.
